I got this done at Body Graphics in Temecula California and I adore it so. The tattoo is of a crossbow which represents my astrological sign, Sagittarius. Placement of the tattoo was a nerve wracking process for me being that I wanted it so badly to be a chest piece, but was fearful of my parental unit’s reaction. In the end I did the best thing and said F*$# it and I’m more than pleased with my decision and the amazing result.

I really like this, but it does make me think a little bit of contraptions from the Saw films. Ouch!

This tattoo came from an idea to create an image to bring together science and nature. The outline is the Mandelbrot Set, discovered by Benoit Mandelbrot in the late 70s, and often considered to be one of the first fractal images ever produced. Inside the Set is the Tree of Life as interpreted by the tattoo artist, David Hale of LoveHawk Studios in Athens, Ga. David really brought this idea to life and created an amazing image that captures what I envisioned more clearly than I thought possible. Hope you all enjoy it too!

I love this quote from Finding Nemo. It’s from the part where Dory is trying to cheer up Marlin and tell’s him when life’s got you down you’ve gotta just keep swimming. It works for me because I think with this optimism, and when shit goes wrong in my life I grow from the negative, I just keep swimming. I also am the “Dory” fish of my friend group and family. Plus this movie is a classic from my childhood. Now, when I feel like all hope is lost, I can look down and see in my handwriting, never to give up, just keep swimming. 

I wrote out the tattoo myself. It was done at East Coast Tattooing & Body in Providence, RI.

Last year I went to Arizona to shoot a wedding. While I was there I got, what turned out to be, a not so great tattoo of a lighthouse and the lyrics: No I am not where I belong, shine a light to guide me home. I always wanted it re-done. A couple days ago I finally made that dream come true.

Done by Tom Carroll of Rabbits Den Tattoo Parlor in Milltown, NJ. I am absolutely in love with this and I cannot believe it is a part of me. It is on my right thigh, still a little swollen in this picture. 11 inches from top to bottom, about 7 inches across. Took over 4 hours, one setting.

I love City and Colour and these lyrics mean a lot to me.
